Morning,

Was a bit bored on the train home last night so I decided to stop/start/reset the chrono a few times (like I said, I was bored). I noticed that sometimes when I would start or reset it, the minute hand would sneak forward a tiny bit, maybe 1/3 or 1/2 or a minute's distance.

I thought I had read something on here about the same thing a while back but can't find it. Is this a huge problem? Apart from meaning that I'll have to reset the time more often, are there any other implications?

I thought this was an issue with ETA Valjoux 7750 based movements. The mighty Herc doesn't use this movement

No it's a problem with virtually every mechanical movement - as stated in the original thread.

Just curious. Does the Rolex Daytona skip? Anyone know for sure?

Roff said it's a problem with 99% of chronographs. So if it's a chronograph I would think it does.

It depends on how the chrono engagement mechanism is designed, I don't know enough about Rolex movements to know for sure.

The other thing to bear in mind is that although the vast majority of mechanical chrono movements suffer from the problem, not all of them will show the symptoms of an obviously moving minute hand. As onewatchnut pointed out you can also find different examples of the same model with different amounts of movement.
