Post subject:  Chrono-matic running time

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Breitling Chrono-matic A41350 or A41360 on this site (manufactured in 2004).
The watch was part of someone's collection and was only worn once or twice so we can assume the watch hasn't been run it.

Would anyone know how long the watch should run for if left on the table? i.e. if I wind the crown 40 times as instructed in the brochure, if I then laid the watch flat on the table, is there a 'benchmark' time that the chrono-matics should run for before running out of juice?

Thanks,

Mark

The benchmark is 42 hours, but if the watch has been sitting unused for 5 years or so then the oils will likely have broken down so you probably won't get that. You will likely also get timekeeping outside of COSC specs, and in the worst case scenario you may also damage the watch by running it without proper lubrication. It should get at least a basic service.

OK, thanks for your reply.

Would you happen to know where I can get some info on the levels of service that Breitling offer and what each level includes?

Thanks,

Mark

There's a video of full mechanical service here - http://www.breitling.com/service/

A basic service is essentially just a disassembly of the main elements and oiling. If you send it to Breitling they will provide an estimate of what needs doing and I imagine that it will simply be a basic service as the watch hasn't been run enough to wear out many parts.

Ref# should be changed here (A41350), as well SE into LE of 1000.
