Post subject:  Bentley 6.75 movement issue
Does anyone with a bentley 6.75 notice a slight jump in the minute hand when you start the chrono or when you reset it? This has been bothering me a great deal. I was wondering if it was normal. My local ad won't look at the watch because I didn't buy it there so I am at a loss. I am also going to try and report him to breitling! It is supposed to be waranteed all over the world. But back to the movement issue it seems the second hand in the small dial jumps as well. It happens 90% of the time. Any experiences or comments appreciated... :lingsrock:

I am definetley looking into it! Funny thing is I want to buy another model soon. Just stupid attitude for a dealer to take...

This is a known issue with the movement.

It's a design problem rather than an assembly problems and it's most noticeable on the Motors with the 30 second chrono.

Nothing that can be done.

Wow I can't believe such an expensive watch has a defect like that. I find it to be a huge dissapointment. I'm just speechless.

It's a problem with 99% of chronographs - caused by the way that the chrono movement engages with the running train. Cartier introduced a watch last year that gets around it by effectively having the chrono run all the time, but without the hands engaged.

Not sure why it's more pronounced / obvious on these movements than on others, but it has always been a problem.

The new B01 movement is supposed to solve the jumping issue too, but on the examples I've handled the slight jump was still evident.

I have heard that the JLC caliber 752 (found in the Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph) also doesn't suffer from this jump as JLC made a special effort to solve it when they developed that movement.

I heard that about the JLC too, but I'm not sure how they do it as the fundamental issue still remains I believe - a clutch to engage the chrono with the running train. The only way Cartier managed to solve it was to remove the clutch.

JLC claim it's because they use a vertical (as opposed to horizonal) clutch.... which as you know is what's in the B01 - although as I say, with the B01's I've handled, I could still see a slight jump. Reports of the JLC that I've heard of first hand, and others I've read, all seem to say that the JLC mechanism really does work and no jump is evident.

Mine does very VERY slightly, but not all the time. Sometimes it just starts spot on. It doesn't bother me as I know it's an inherant "feature" of 7750 based movements, so when it doesn't do it I consider myself lucky!

My SA is the same as my World, but my 6.75 always seems to start without jumping. My Motors on the other hand always seems to jump a little, but again it's very small (and also just a "feature" of 99% of mechanical movements) so I don't consider it a problem.

Now if it was a movement that claimed NOT to jump, then I'd have a problem!

They all do it, it's just a question of how visible it is based on hand movement.

Logic says that it should be more pronounced in larger watches as the tip of the hand is further from the mechanism and therefor subject to greater physical movement, but it doesn't work that way - it is definitely movement specific and the Bentleys seem worse than most.
