Post subject:  Seeting Moon Phase on Navitimer Olympus

I cannot seem to change the phase of the moon. I am pushing the #1 pushpiece but it does not seem to change the moon phase. With normal wear the phase is changing, but I can't seem to adjust it manually. I do not have the "special" tool, so I have been using a toothpick. All of the other pushpieces seem to work correctly. Does the crown have to be in position 2, or does it stay in position 1? I did not try to adjust it between 8PM and 3AM, so I don't think that is the issue. Am I not pushing the button in far enough? Any assistance would be appreciated.

You are pressing the little button next to the crown right?

It's possible that the toothpick's not strong enough. If you have a springbar tool the flat end of that will do, or failing that a ballpoint pen or slightly blunt pencil.

You don't need to have the crown in a certain position.

I will try that. I thought I was push pretty hard. I may not have been applying enough "force." The other pushpieces seem to require very little effort to change. It looks like it is trying to move, but just stays put.

Sounds like it needs to go to the AD for them to take a look - they'll be able to establish if there is anything wrong with it.

I had a Navitimer Olympus myself and I initially found one of the correctors (it could well have been the moon phase one) needed to be depressed a considerable way before it would work. I had tried a ball-point pen, etc but with no joy. As it turned out I needed to use a cocktail stick as it was thin enough to depress the corrector enough for it to work.

Basically it shouldn't need much force at all : it probably just needs something thin enough to depress it far enough. If that doesn't work then it will be an AD visit.
