Hey guys i recently got a black crocodile band for my recently purchased evolution, is there a special tool to change the band and strap, i know you need to remove those push pins but cant seem to figure out how to get in there...thanks in advance

You need a springbar tool. Tool of choice is a Bergeon 6767F available from www.watchtool.co.uk

Spot on - both the tool and the source. Don't buy on ebay - watchtool are cheaper and offer an excellent service.

Quick Question.

My AD said that to be safe, everytime they change a band they will replace the actual springbars... As they could accidentally damage it on removal.


If you are changing the band yourself, is this necessary? If so, can you buy them from the Watchtool website as well?

I would say that as long as you're careful - don't bend or split the springbar - you should be OK using the same ones over and over. Obviously the springs will weaken with use and it's something to be aware of when changing straps.

Spring bars are available from Watch Tool on the "Watch Part" site so it may be a good idea to have a couple of spare sets in case - they're cheap enough.

Some of the guys will advise the best to get in leiu of OEM parts (as used by Breitling) and the correct type for bracelet or strap but I'm not 100% sure.

All that said - It's better to spend a few quid on a new set of spring bars now and then rather than have your watch repaired, new crystal etc 'cause the spring bars were knackered.

Your jeweller advises it so that they are at least reassured that they are unlikely to have you back in complaining. Also they don't know how old those fitted are and how many times they've been removed and refitted.

I wouldn't dream of changing them every time. I do keep a few sets around (and note that the strap and bracelet ones are different) simply because my AD will give me a handful if I ask, but not every time. If you have any idea what you are doing then you won't damage the spring bar simply by changing it.

If the springs seem weak, or if they look slightly bent I'll replace, but otherwise reuse many times over.
