Have a baton dial but want the new stencil. Is it possible to do a simple dial swap or do I need to purchase a whole new watch?

You can do it but it's going to be expensive £500+

still cheaper than a new watch. Where can I get just a stencil dial though? I have searched internet and called numerous places.

Just send it directly to Breitling through your AD.

They should be able to do it.....not sure if you'll have to pay for a service at the same time though. :?:

Would you really want a local watchmaker to mess about with it???

I've just learned that it's not only cheaper in the long run to use Breitling it's 100% safer.

Im never going to trust anyone else with my Breitlings other than BUK

I trust him with all my breits, infact all my watches since he has been doing everything and anything i need for the last 6yrs and he has many many many yrs of experience. I have already spoke with him and he said he can do the job but I need to supply the dial and I have no luck finding that hahaha.

Some AD's are repair centres......why not try them and see if they can order you one in?

GBP500 might be enough for the dial swap (though I doubt it), but Breitling will insist on a service - it'll be GBP1,000 by the time you're done, and likely more.

Breitling won't sell you a dial separately, and worse, if Breitling don't do it then you can never have Breitling touch your watch again because they won't recognise the dial change and will immediately put an original one back in and charge you for it.

There have been many debates about Breitling vs. local watchmaker for servicing / work. Bottom line is that your watchmaker can't get Breitling parts so you have paid a considerable premium for Breitling modified ETA movement and are then having all the bits that you paid extra for replaced by stock ETA parts in the servicing process.

Service and dial swap on Polenzo's headwind was £600 GPB so £500 for the dial alone should be plenty, as you stated though it's quite irrelevant seeing as Breitling won't touch it, hence me saying that a service centre might do the dial swap.

After all, they sell the Super Avenger with Stencilled Dial now so what's the harm in it?

And Driver8 was quoted around GBP 1,200 IIRC for a swap on a brand new Montbrillant Legende.

Can't compare prices of swaps on non current models with brand new, high demand ones!

Granted, but you would've thought that the non-current models would be more expensive due to limited stocks and the fact they aren't in production!

Maybe that has a bearing on price as well???

Bloody expensive dial swap on that...i take it he didn't get it done?

No he didn't go ahead - was considering buying a watch in the 'wrong' colour and having it changed but the cash didn't make sense.

The thing with discontinued models is that they will have a large number of dials sitting in a parts bin with very little demand so prices can come down - although they aren't producing them, they over produce at the time for this kind of situation.

Either way, I have never seen a dial swap being an economic option for current models, it's usually cheaper to sell and buy - and I suspect that Breitling prices it that way deliberately. With discontinued it's obviously a different situation.

Anyway, quit hanging around here and go and enjoy your birthday
