Post subject: | Some Advice Please. |
Hello all, I just came back from a 10 day break from Thailand last night and I had a bit of a accident ![]() I went to see the Big Buddha on the Koi Samui Island and it was raining hard and the steps were very slippery. So I decided to take some fancy shots from the top of the steps and moved back down a few steps. As you can imagine my foot slipped and I fell luckily 5 steps down arm & head first on to the hard marble steps ![]() Any advice to, should I ignore the damage or should I get it sorted out ![]() ![]() Also I did go scuba diving and the watch is new. How often would you need to get it serviced after using it in the sea ![]() Thank you. ![]() |

Ooh - could have been worse I guess - the crystal could have taken the impact! Also you could have hurt yourself - lucky you landed on your head! ![]() So - the damage: If the quarter marker is pushed out of position it is probably the screw which is bent - there are some on ebay at the moment which may sort that out otherwise the problem you have, without sending it for a service, is that it may be difficult to get hold of a replacement screw. I'm not sure how much it would be to get the bezel replaced but the inner ring as you call it is part of the case so that's a bigger expense. I think I'd try the cheaper route for now and try to get the screw changed and blend out the other damage. A local jeweller may be able to help there - avoid the crystal of course. As for the salt water exposure - these are made for diving and as long as the watch is rinsed in fresh water after use it will be fine without extra servicing - the seals will deteriorate quicked in anything other than fresh water but unless you were a full time diver it should be fine. There will be someone who has a better idea about the costs involved - hope that helps a bit, although I'm no expert by any means. |

Hello Breitling Bloke & thank you. Its the actual claw by the quarter marker 15 which is bent upwards, as you can see in the picture ![]() |

No probs - anything to help. Can't see any damage in the pics so assumed it was bent up at the screw. There are markers on ebay too at present but for an Aerospace so you may need an AD or service centre to help you. Maybe someone here has the bits you'll need. |

I think the Bezels are around $400 - $450 or so, the chimney might be able to be polished out - I had a fairly deep scratch on the chimney of my cockpit that was polished out very well. Glad you are OK!!! |
