Hi all,
A friend of mine went skiing along with his navitimer patrouille de France.
The result being the watch has changed color!
I know for sure it is an original breitling since I was the first owner of that watch.

The dial as turned from blue to that maroon color pictured bellow.
Below is not a picture of my friend's watch but a picture I found on this website. My friend's watch has now the very same color as the one on that picture.

My question is;
How can the color turn from blue to bronze? and would you have any idea on how much it might cost to repair?

The watch will go back to Breitling and I have advised my friend to stop skiing with any expensive watch and wear a regular swatch instead.

I suspect the paint on the dial is affected by extreme cold temperature.

I wouldn't think it could be reversed.

:shock: That's a peculiar effect and not something I'd have expected from extreme cold. I've heard (and seen pictures) of colour changes due to moisture but not that. Very bizarre.

Your friend may struggle to get a replacement dial from Breitling as it was a limited edition (hence few in number) and it was a few years ago now. I wish him good luck.

it's a peculiar effect indeed, look at the picture above, I took it from this website, so that means my friend aint the only one with the same problem, so Breitling might know about that issue.
I will post a picture this week end of my friend's watch, you will see the dial has turned to the very same color as the one pictured above.
lets hope Breitling kept some spare dials for that model otherwise you will see very soon on ebay a patrouille de france with a weird dial sold "as-is". And I already hear people on some Breitling forums calling for a frankenwatch :roll:

I'm posting this one ( a normal color) for reference.

Hey Zeb,

On the positive side, maybe your friend and the owner of the watch in the photo are the only 2 people in the world to have this model with a bronze dial, making it even more of a rarity!!??!! 8)
