Did you pay for initial repair (one where back was damaged) ? If so then I would refuse this payment, you already paid for servicing. I'm sure the last person who contacted you would appreciate the follow up info, as they said they would take care of it.

I didn't pay for the first repair. I refused to accept the watch in the condition it was in. When they were hoping i would take it away, they offered to waive the repair cost. I didn't care about a $90 repair charge it was the back i cared about. In my mind, i owe them $90 max for the initial repair. everything after that was their negligence and should be their cost IMO. I'll keep you guys posted, but I will never ever take a watch to an AD for anything again. I can always ship it direct to the Breitling Service centre in Toronto. I don't have the patience to manage all these middle people anymore. I'll keep this thread updated. I hope they didn't go nuts with the overhaul cosmetically. I got my B2 back and i was kind of unimpressed with the exterior treatment. The polished parts (centreline links on the band) looked great, but where they brush finished the watch body, i felt the overdid it. like there are some, what i would call character lines, on the B2 which are basically beveled edges, which were overly radiused (new word) by the brushing process. so the transitions from the beveled to flat areas aren't as pronounced anymore. I didn’t like that. I would have asked for it not to be refinished cosmetically if i had known this was a possibility... this time i didn’t even have a change to ask since they overhauled the SA without telling me... I suppose i should have put that in the "are Breitling owners more anal?" thread...

Hello,

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. There is no such thing as being anal about anything you pay over $4,000.00 dollars. I would be the same the way. My watch has only been worn a handful of times, but the reason that is. I have Diamands in my Super Avenger and I am afraid a diamond would pop out and I would lose it. I do wear it on special occassions and I understand how you feel. If it were me in your shoes I would be going postal on the AD for messing up my watch. I hope that the AD makes it right for you. GOOD LUCK!!!

Well... it's finally back... and here are some pretty lame cell phone pictures of the SA... I have to admit, the people at La Swiss redeemed themselves here. Maybe I'm a little too relieved to have it back, I don't know... Anyway, it took almost 6 months from the day I walked in there to have the date advance repaired (I actually let someone handle the watch, and I turned my head for 2 minutes, and they unscrewed the crown and were spinning/pulling it, which obv effed the advance at that time of the evening)... anyway, I have a brand new back with an intact and matching serial number, installed flawlessly... If I have one complaint, it would be that an overhaul was performed without my consent, but I was expected to cover that cost. In the end, I was offered a discount on that in recognition of that fact. Since I never paid for the original repair because of the damage, paying C$375 for an overhaul, with a new case back installed, and a fully functional date, was fairly easy to swallow (although it probably wouldn't have been closer to my original rage date). I have to admit, I am pretty relieved to have the overhaul anyway, because the 'unrequested' crown articulation at that party could easily have done more than the obvious damage (date function)...

What can I say... The manager took care of business properly following a little 'motivation' from an email to Breitling Canada (thanks to the resources on this forum), and definitely now feel they have an understanding of how we really feel about these units... They hired a new sales rep there too (at least I never saw her there before), and she didn’t know about the issue at all. When I went in to pick up the watch she retrieved it and said "I bet you’re happy to have that back", and I thought: "omg, someone here 'gets' it", and that's all it really takes I think to make me happy. If you know how much someone cares about something, you'd take great care of it (hopefully). Either way, last time I updated, I was never setting foot in there again, and now I would, so I definitely got a different vibe there now (Stockholm syndrome?). Anyway, I waiting for a 'best price' on a co-pilot (on pilot) band for my EVO from them. If it's competitive, I’ll seriously consider buying it there.

So that's the end of the story. I'll post some pictures tonight of each of my Lings in the discussion form. Thanks to everyone here who took the time to help me resolve this.

PS. I know I should have taken a pic of the new back... I’ll put one up later.

Glad to hear you finally got it back and all sorted out!

I agree, sometimes it just takes a friendly comment or some sympathy to get them credits.
