I finally got my watch back on Friday. The watchmaker called me to explain the situation. Breitling wouldn't sell him a second hand and the watch was in "bad shape". The watch needed to be serviced, and with that, they would replace the second hand. He made the call to have that done. The jeweler was pretty nervous that I was going to stick them with the bill as I never authorized any of this work, but when I saw the watch, I didnt care what it cost... Its like new. Even the scratches on the back casing were completely removed.

I deducted the amount of the initial "fix" charged by them and paid the bill. I was just happy to get out of there with my new baby, never to return again :)

Breitling does amazing work. What a difference! :lingsrock:

Glad that it all worked out in the end, and I'm guessing that the watch is going to Breitling for the next service in a few years

Fully sympathize with you.
I tried to change a battery in Italy near Rome years ago. The jeweller could not open the case so he scratched to hell out of it. In the words of another jeweller next door: lai MASSACRATO.. which means he MASSACRED the watch. Its funny now, but then I was ready to break his window with a calzone. I Had to change the body, just came back to me..
For more info on my story now, see the thread I had for my two watches.. Don't bother with the bickering guys, just the main info, it may help you... "Breitling good for 10 years..
And good luck!

Hi 2ndplace,

Glad that the watch has been sorted but sorry that you should have to go through so much trouble. In the photo showing it after the service, it looks a real beauty :D .

Oh, I am one of the 'bickering guys' that Gobreitling was referring to in his thread - as he said 'please ignore' those bits. It's amazing how quickly something can get blown out of proportion on here :| .
