Hi People,

My first post. I hope you guys can help me...

It seems this is an old chestnut: What do I do with a dead Intruder? I've had it from new, almost forever, and send it in for what I thought was a battery replacement. Breitling now tell me the LCD panel has gone and can't be fixed.

Do I just throw it away?

I have been Googling like mad for days and know the movement is a Miyota Y652 but, as you probably know, these are no longer available.

Does anyone know where to get such a movement?

What are the equivalents? I have been told: "H461A / Y652A / Y652B / BREITLING 51 / Y652 Miyota are identical" but I can't find any of them. ESA Y2 900911 or ESA Y2 900231 seem to be possibilities but I can't find them either.

What would be a suitable donor watch? Pulsars and Seikos seem to be the brands but which models exactly?

Has anyone persuaded a completely different movement to work in this case? Miyota T201 looks likely...?

Seems such a shame to bin a decent watch...

Hope someone can help me out :-)

Eric

Unfortunately, your only real option is to set up a search on eBay and settle down to a long wait.

They do pop up every now and then but expect competition for buying it.

There is one other option.........

Breitling will offer you a substantial discount on a new model. You will still have to surrender the watch to them, but it's a better option than binning it.

Did not know that Roff. Is it because they no longer hold the parts and feel obligated?

Alan,

I searched before my post but was very surprised to come up with very little. Nothing about replacing the movement at all actually.

Probably doing it wrong...

Roff,

They did indeed offer me a discount on *a* watch :-) Not one I'm interested in unfortunately.

If they'd offered me a good discount on *any* watch I would definitely have bought one but as it is they have lost a customer.

I'm happy to watch ebay , just want do it in an efficient manner.

Alan,

I can't figure out why I only get four results from an "Intruder" search in the Help forum? Not one to do with my issue, other than my own post.

Very few posts anywhere else either.

Am I doing something wrong?

@ Alan, yes Breitling offer the discount because they can't repair.

@ Eric, Breitling always used to allow you to select a model - I would certainly push them.

The Academy also used the Y652 base in addition to Sonyman's list.

Roff,

Believe me, I pushed them :-) They offered me a bit off other models but nothing I couldn't have achieved from an AD.

Isn't the best thing to buy a Seiko or Pulsar with the same movement as opposed to another Breitling?

If you know what the equivalent models are, I just have no idea who else used the Y652.

Of course you will have the same problem there as well at some point. I checked with a movement supply house (Jules Borel) and they don't carry the Y652 any more.
