Though I've been signed up here on the forum for quite awhile, I have been very quiet since I am a sad, lingless outsider.

But that is about to change! Since first seeing a Chrono Avenger years ago, Breitlings have been on my mind. The SA pushed me into really looking closer. In particular, the white dial with arabics. While distracted with finding a new job and moving, I put the idea aside. I had also hoped there might have been a white Skyland released in the meantime.

I was hoping people would chime in with some advice regarding getting one secondhand. With the possibility that six weeks down the road I might decide it is too large, I am hesitant to get a brand new one.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Although you want one with arabics, you should consider the one for sale in the sales forum. It's a great deal and you should be able to recover the money you spend if you do decide it's too big for you.

For your first Ling I'd suggest trying to find a AD that has the watch you'd like. I know it's more expensive but you get the full warranty, and a guarantee that it's the real thing (sorry, i don't mean to offend anyone). If you are worried the SA is too big then at least go to the AD, try it on, see how it feels. Right now AD's are giving good deals for what is in stock in their stores. I recently went in to my local AD and they are discounting as much as 35% for some of the stuff there. It's a great time to buy. Plus you'll get registered with Breitling, get a cool hat and all sorts of random stuff in the mail. Good luck! I got my first Ling in Jan'07 and I'm shopping for #4 now!

Defo good advice to go to your AD first to try on the watch and any others that take your fancy.

I have a heritage 46 and Skyland Avenger, both were purchased NON AD (One used with all papers and still in warranty and one new some papers No warranty card (bankruptcy stock) i got them at super prices and was willing to take the risk. However, my next Breit will be from my local AD who will then know i have a total of THREE Breitlings, im hoping he will then look after me knowing i like to buy the brand.. We shall see..

Hey bgls- I'm in the same boat you are. I too am purchasing an SA. Don't feel bad because you(we) are not a ling owner yet. Most of the people on here (99.9%) are quite knowlegable and are willing to give any help you need. Most of this has been said already, but go to as many AD's as you can and try on those SA's. Hell, try on anything that strikes your fancy! I accidently found an SA while window shopping (I'm sure everybody knows the story now) and fell in love right then and there. I tried on Chronomats, (too small) Skyracers, Skylands (Awesome Watch. Def my # 2 choice) and Navitimers (Very nice but a little too formal for me for my first Breitling) If you feel the SA is too big after you try it on, try a Skyland. They are beautifull in person. No picture can express the size and beauty of these things unless you try them on for yourself.

Jefferson, I did try on an SA several times, but was still totally indecisive. It's hard for a small wristed guy to try on one with a bracelet and really get a feel for it. Anyway, I finally got one because I gave up on waiting for a white Skyland. It probably is too big, but damn, I really like it.
