Hi all,

Long term reader on here not much of a poster...

My SO went for an overhaul and I've had it back for about a month now. I'm not overly impressed!

There's a speck of something on the dial which I know is OCD but seeing as it's been cleaned I see it everytime I look at it. Annoying.

I wear it daily and would say it's gained 3 mins in 3 weeks... Is this right after such work?

I had a link put in and this doesn't look fixed very well I'm forever worried it's going to come off and I'll lose the watch!

The hand on the hour subdial now sits just in front of the 12, again being a perfectionist this annoys me...

Granted I know I should and will take this up with the shop but thought I'd ask for some advice 1st. After paying nearly £600.00 I expect more than a polish.

Service comes with a 12 month warranty, here's the perfect opportunity to use it!

True for sure.
It does not mean that they should do a sloppy job in the first place hoping that the owner is blind.
Sadly, this seems to be more frequent lately.
I would take it back immediately.

Thanks a lot all. I'll add some pics tomorrow so you can see what I mean. I bought Breitling as its all about precision, quality and craftsmanship.

All I've had is poor service (my opinion) from the store, and shoddy workmanship from the company.

Appreciate the responses was worried I was being too much of a perfectionist.

I live in Cambridge, the watch went to Breitling Boutique in Stratford and I think it's then sent to Tunbridge Wells

Here's the 2 pics, sorry the detail is poor I am struggling to get pics small enough to fit on here.

On closer inspection there's actually 2 "specks" of rubbish near the 8 marker on the watch.

As I said, i appreciate it if you say i'm being too critical and have an OCD but for what you pay for these things you expect perfection. The link physically moves a few mm up and down on it's bars, none of the others do this.

The subdial hand sits very slightly in front of the 12 marker on the dial.

I despair at the lack of quality that comes out of BUK. It seems so many people who send their watches in for warranty work get less than perfect service.

My SAII Military that went back in January because it started gaining an hour a day, came back with a faulty datewheel and would only trip half way on many dates. That got fixed as a 'goodwill' repair (why, you screwed it up when you fixed the original issue?), but my E-warranty card now has an 'electronic smudge' on the e-ink screen.

Yet my old SO went in for a paid-for full overhaul and came back like a brand-new watch and keeps better time than my recently repaired SAII which still gains and is probably only just within COSC - I'm not sure I really want to find out it isn't and have the pain of sending it back in again.

@Deleeriois, I cannot see what the issue is in the first picture, but that link shown on the second doesn't look like the right one for that bracelet. Did they supply it or is it one you had and asked to be put in?

Thanks for your response. Yes it was one of the original links. It looks like the pin holding it in is too long and therefore it slides? None of the others do.

In terms of the 12 subdial the 30 subdial when the hand is reset sits bang in the middle of the 3-0 the 12 subdial the hand sits just over the 2 of the 1-2. It looks like it's not been set properly in the factory. As I said excuse the OCD. The time gain is crazy though for something that one assumes was 'tested'?

Your dealings with them sound horrific, but sounds like you are sorted.

I've written to them CC'ing in Breitling so we'll see what happens. For something I wanted and had to save for after a torrid time financially I'm not overly happy at the moment.

Will keep you posted.

In respect to the subdial hand position, it's not a case of 'font kerning' that gives the impression that the hand is offset is it? The number 1 takes up much less width than a 3 so therefore 12 is narrower in width overall than 30 - in 30, each of the numerals is approximately the same width ... so in effect, to centralise the 12, the 2 would be positioned ever so slightly off to the left meaning the hand would cut through the 2 a bit; but overall, the hand would cut through the 12 in the centre if the 12 is taken as a whole and not as just separate numbers - sorry, possibly not explained it that well (it's a Bank Holiday and had some vino with lunch!!).

Look up Font Kerning in google to get some idea of why it may be the 'issue'.

As for the link - to me, the centre link looks too narrow for the bracelet but that may just be the way the photo shows....

Good luck and hope you get it sorted though - and whilst it is a real PITA, if you aren't happy then get it sent back to BUK.

You know what? You're spot on with the bracelet link. The centre link is smaller which has created the gap! Spot on. Can't believe I never saw this. Strange as its a spare link I had that I thought they used?

As for the font. No, it's not that. Above the 12 is a vertical marker and the top of the hand 'arrow' is to
the right of it in its default position. Compare it to the top subdial and the 'arrow' of the hand points
Perfectly at the vertical marker point. OCD central I know.

Thanks for your post. Enjoy the vino!

It's not a Casio you know, so OCD? No, I don't think so. These are damned expensive watches so they should be right, and BUK charge out a lot of money for service, so the work should be perfect.

I couldn't see from the photo if it was on the marker or not. Looks like it just hasn't been positioned correctly when the hands were replaced then. Shoddy work and shoddy QC. No excuse.

Find it odd that the link was fitted if it wasn't the correct one. Are you sure BUK did that and not the Stratford AD?

Vino all gone. Contemplating another bottle ;-)

Stratford did it but it was my link that I had spare from when I got it so it should have been fine?

You need to send someone out for wine.
