Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone had some knowledge or thoughts on the recent recommendations from BUSA regarding my Emergency. I originally sent it in for a battery replacement. The following were their initial comments:

"Bracelet Scratched, Crystal Scratched, Crystal Antiglare Scratched, Tachymeter Scratched, Bezel Scratched, Case Scratched, Crown Scratched, Movement Stopped, Antenna Safety Broken"

I never noticed any scratches at all on the crystal. Wondering if they are making these comments based on looking through a magnifier?

Necessary:
1. In addition to the standard Maintenance (which I'm thinking includes the actual battery replacement), they are also saying I need to perform "Screw-locked cap of main antenna, steel, 50 teeth". Does anyone know what this means?

Optional:
1. "Sapphire crystal Flat glare proofed both sides" for $120. Does anyone know if they just want to add protective coating again? Subjective for sure...but wondering any thoughts on the value of doing this?

Thanks!

Crystals are not refinished, they're replaced - and that price is a bargain. If they are saying that the AR coating is scratched (the sapphire itself won't be) then it's scratched - whether that matters to you, or is even noticeable, is of course subjective - it will happen but you usually have to look closely to see it.

The other part is the safety cap for the antenna which they are saying is broken and needs replacing.

The value of it is entirely dependent if you want your watch to come back from it's service looking brand new or not. If you aren't bothered, then there's not a lot of value in it..... but if you are (and personally I take the opinion that if you're sending it in for some work anyway, then why not get everything done and effectively have a brand new watch again) then it's well worth it. And as Roff said, $120 for a Breitling crystal is a superb price........but ultimately only you can decide the value/utility to you.
