Hi. I recently bought a pre owned Chronomat Evolution A1335611. Its in great condition. Complete with box, certificate and other papers etc. It was bought by the previous owner from a foreign AD in 2010. It was checked upon purchase by the Breitling Authorized Service Center here in our area. They said the readings were good with no signs of service being needed soon.

The problem is a few days after. I was wearing it and I noticed that the date started changing to the next day even though it was only about to turn 10pm.

I've googled the issue and the primary reason given by different forums on this issue is that at some point, the date must've been quick set with the time within the 10pm and 3am danger zone. This could have caused the date wheel to get misaligned or mistimed. Some sites say that as long as the time is accurate and the functions are normal, there should be no immediate need to have it serviced as long as I can live with the problem. Is this true? Has anyone ever experienced this?

What I want is a confirmation that:

1) this issue is easily fixable and does not need major servicing,
2) and that I can wait for the next service to have it fixed,
3) and in the meantime it won't cause further damage or malfunctions to the watch.

Thanks for any information, opinions and advice.

Not necessarily an issue at all. The Valjoux 7750 is well known for having a long date change cycle, so starts a long time before midnight. When does the date change complete, that will be more indicative than when it starts. I doubt that it is a damaged date wheel caused by using the quick set date (or winding time backwards) in the danger zone, the symptoms are usually different / worse / inconsistent. At worst it could be a misadjusted date wheel that is causing the date change to occur slightly early.

There are no issues with waiting until the next service interval regardless of the cause, but as noted I'm not yet convinced that it's an issue at all.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Hi. Thank you very much for your reply. To answer the question, the date changes fully within the hour. Its 11pm right now and the date has fully changed to November 14 when its actually still 11pm of November 13 here. The Date started moving at around or slightly before 10pm but unfortunately, I was driving the whole time and was not able to witness the entire date change cycle. But as I said, its now 11.05 pm and the date is now squarely 14th. Again, thank you for your comforting words of knowledge. And to add more info, the date changes consistently at the same time the past 5 nights that I've had the watch. Be well.

And it is really a beautiful watch. Everyone who's seen me wearing it the past few days say its very masculine and classy at the same time. I'm so happy with it.

So likely nothing more than a misaligned hour hand that will be addressed during servicing.
