Hello,
I bought a Superocean Heritage from a friend of mine, 'bout 2 weeks ago.The watch is from 2011. I took it to the AD, and it said it's in perfect condition. The problem is that it's keep losing 10 sec a day, (only observed from friday to monday), which is clearly out of COSC specs. It had lost about 50 secs since friday, and now it's monday. Can it be because I have not worn it for 20 hours or so (but it hasn't stopped) - from friday afternoon to saturday afternoon - but I have been told that I should wind it only when it stops. Any idea? Is it from the fact that I haven't worn it, or there is some problem with the watch? Any answer is grately appriciated.

Regards,
Ben

You can wind the watch whenever you want, it can't be over wound. If the time loss is approximately the same each day then it may simply be in need of a regulation which any AD with a watchmaker can do. It may also be approaching the servicing window - if by saying that it is from 2011 you mean that it was originally sold in 2011 then the watch itself could well be approaching 5 years old.

Welcome to Breitlingsource.

Losing 10 seconds a day is (as you rightly say) outside of COSC specification. Not wearing the watch should have no appreciable impact the timekeeping provided it's still running, which you say it is.

It could just be a simple regulation that's required, or more likely it could do with a service. The fact that the watch papers are dated from 2011 doesn't necessarily mean it was made in 2011. A watch may sit in an AD's display for a year or more, so being as we are approaching 2015, it's entirely conceivable that a service is due.

If you have the appropriate tools to remove the bracelet, there will be 4 numbers stamped between the lugs - the first 2 indicate the week number and the last two indicate the year of manufacture. Thus, 4913 would indicate a manufacture date of the 49th week of 2013. If it was made in 2011 I'd be tempted to get a regulation done - try a Breitling AD with an on-site watchmaker. It's quick and cheap.

Otherwise, yes it will be a trip back to Breitling for a service I think.

EDIT - As per usual Roff beat me to it, but I typed it so I'm posting it!!!

Thanks for the answers. It seems that I'm gonna take it back to the AD.
