Hi all,

I'm looking to get some advise.
I have put my AS for sale (as in the title above and sig below) for over a year now with a break of a few months.
Unfortunally I haven't had a single inquiery, offer or remark on the sale.

My question is what's could be the problem with the listing?
- Is the price too high? I'm lower priced than the ones selling on eBay (sold listings) Plus I'm willing to negotiate :)
- Could the condition be the issue? It's a used watch but not misused/abused. The time is running about 4-5's + a day Which is acceptable, the watch is not yet serviced but don't feel it's due yet. It's a full set, complete with full length bracelet and box plus all papers.
- Perhaps the lack of selling references? I'm fairly new here and post rarely here and the WUS boards (a bit more overthere) but can be contacted through mail/PM or even my flawless eBay account and ofcause by phone.

I am used to sell on eBay but for this level of sales the fees are quite high and also the additional Paypal fees and the outrageous exchange rate they use holds me back to sell it overthere. I'd rather sell it to a fellow Breitling enthausiast over here for less than on eBay where over 10% ends in the pockets of the eBay company.

Please LMK your advise or opinions :)

Price it in US$, open it up to global buyers, provide clear and detailed photos of the watch and it will sell.

Links in your signature come across as desperate in my opinion, and servicing is driven by age (5-7 years) not any other factor.

Thank you for your advise I will take it in concideration.
The problem with overseas shipping is that I know for sure it can be fully insured shipped anywhere in the EU, to the US only by using a private courrier like DHL/FedEx. I also do not know if the buyer will be charged additional tax. Vice versa it's about 25% which is outrageous.

The link in the signature isn't intended as desperate more like extra exposure. Can change that too ofcause. IMO to bump a FS thread every few days indicates a certain need to sell quickly.

Thanks again!

Martijn

Hello, FYI, recently I sent a Breitling Watch bracelet to a US Citizen
http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=55638,
Value 750€, shipping from France to the USA with Chronopost International (80€).
Now you have to declare th REAL Value of the item, material (old Breilting steel bracelet (423A).
US Taxes & Duties on imported items from Europe: 96€

750€ (bracelet)+ 80€ (shipping fees) + 96€ (local tax on imported items) = 926€ to pay for the buyer from Europe to USA
1005$ + 107$ + 128$ = 1240$
As a sender to the USA, you also have to specify everything about what you are sending. It's mandatory now to give to them the email address of the US buyer and it's phone number, in order to have a Power of Attorney from the buyer. Also a pro-forma bill established 5 times (customs, written in English of course) and you are not allowed to use words like "gift", "spart parts" in the product descrption now. It's a bit harder to send items to the US now IMO.

It's the same on EBay with the global shipping program (GSP) form EBay US. I paid a used Pocket Watch from 1920 45USD, I had to pay shipping fees and "imported duties" and 33% more for the customs fees to a private US company (does the French customs see the money from EBay and it's private company Pitney Bowes)

It's easier to send items directly with the USPS program, it cost less and took time to cross the Atlantic Ocean, idem from France to the US with the French postal service.

My 2 cents
