I just bought an aftermarket diamond bezel for my SA and have been searching to see if switching the bezel is something that I can do myself or should I bring it to a jewler/AD? I saw somewhere through google that you can just unscrew the screws around the bezel and remove but as its a new watch and im a new breitling owner im very cautious to mess with it without getting some advice first. Thank You
Yep, as you say, you just unscrew the bezel screws and it'll come right off. Couple of things to remember though. Firstly make sure you use exactly the right size screwdriver - don't try to use something that's almost right 'cause you are likely to slip and/or damage the screwheads. I forget the exact size, but 1.4mm rings a bell.... or was it 2mm..... someone else will chime in soon no doubt. Secondly, you don't need to unscrew the screws completely. It doesn't really matter if you do, but they are fiddly to get back in, and you only need to loosen them to get the bezel off. Thirdly, its worth keeping a littl downward pressure on the bezel while you unscrew it as the bezel has a springy piece of metal underneath it, and keeping a little pressure on the bezel will stop it lifting the bezel unevenly. And lastly, there is a piece of wire inside the bezel that you will need to remove and place in the new bezel. Pry it out carefully with a screwdriver (mind you eyes as they can ping out) and locate it in the groove of the new bezel. Replacement is the reverse of taking it off. (Just thought - if the new bezel doesn't come with screws you will obviously have to remove the screws fully from the old bezel. As I say, no big deal just a bit fiddly).
