Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if this is a genuine Breitling? I would have expected the movement to be Breitling signed but cant find anything. At the side of the movement it says "F4000" if I can make it ou correctly. You can barely see it on these pictures.

Any information would be much appreciated.

It does indeed say F4000. The movement is a Felsa 4000 and is exactly right for the Breitling 2525, and that's exactly what you have here.

I can't give you a year without a serial number - likely on the inside of the caseback, but the watch is broadly correct. The crown's a replacement, and I think the hands are too, but other than that it looks OK.

Thanks Roffensian, I can barely make out a number on the inside of the case 291482RB, could that be the serial?

It should be a 6 digit number, but I don't think that number's right, and not sure what the RB would be. Looking at the caseback again, I think it's original, but that number seems about 10 years too early for this piece (which is likely early 50s).

Hey Roff!

Can it be due to the fact that several parts is changed, that the caseback can be from another Breitling? Just a thought.

It's possible, but like I said the caseback looks correct - and it has the model number stamped on it.

I may be reading the numbers wrong, it is very fuzzy and not very well defined. Dont have a magnifying glass at hand at the moment, unfortunately.....

You've got a point there...another guess is that the serialnumber is worn out (even though I do not know how, if it is inside the caseback) as it were (almost) on my Navitimer. Just brainstorming here anyways, you are the knowledgeman on these pieces :)

Have a great easter everybody!! :D
