My dad recently passed away and among his belongings I found a Breitling stopwatch. I have not been able to find out anything about the watch. Anyone have any information?

Sorry about the blurry pictures but they were taken with my cell phone camera. The watch is in good shape and runs. Underneath the name "Breitling" on the dial it is marked "1/10".

Sorry to hear about your Dad Steve.

Difficult to tell just from the dial how old this is. Are there any numbers on the back of the case? It's similar (but not the same) as a couple of models from around 1970, but those were marked as Sprint models, but that's my immediate guess of age.

These pieces aren't particularly valuable - $100 - $150 or so.

I'm also going to move this across to the Vintage section.

Thank you. Nothing on the back, smooth finish to the case. I would imagine it would be from the 70's.

That was what I thought you might say. If there are numbers they are likely inside the caseback - a watchmaker will be able to safely take it off for you.

The two models that are similar are the 557 and the 1202 and this is likely the same movement with just a different dial design.

Here's one I just picked up. Needs a mainspring. Don't really have any idea how old it is. Haven't had the back off on this one yet.

Very nice Paul.

These pieces really are very under appreciated - you could easily get a collection of 5 or 6 of the more valuable ones for the price of a Super Avenger, which is crazy in my opinion.

I think so too. If they were just a little smaller they would make a great custom wristwatch. The movement detail is just awesome on this one. I could just imagine it with a display back.

Amazingly clean (and a great photo). That index is just incredible. I'm sure you could find someone to do a custom sapphire caseback for you - I know there is someone in Europe (Germany I think) who does them for wristwatches.

Likely cost more than the piece is worth though, but if it's a keeper, it might be worth it.
