I just bought an "alleged" Breitling from circa 40's. I have searched far and wide looking for something similar and the best I could find was a model that looked similar in style, but not convincing enough. This is what it looks like- http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL638/3293048/7236642/333271652.jpg - - -http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL638/3293048/7236642/333271642.jpg - http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL638/3293048/7236642/333271634.jpg - - HELP PLEASE!

I think you already have a suspicion about what I'm going to say.......

It's not a Breitling - sorry.

What gives it away? The motion? Where can I reference the information?

It doesn't look like a Breitling, it doesn't have a Breitling model or serial number, the Breitling markings are inconsistent with the purported period, it's just a no name watch that someone has engraved.

I can't point you at a single reference source - wait for other opinions on here if you need further validation.

Thanks for your help. I am kicking myself in the ass right now. I looked a little more on the internet and found a site (some kind of Isareli Museum) - check it out. Look on page 6 of the watches from 1950-1959. http://www.breitling.org.il/site/detail/departAlbum/albumPic.asp?depart_id=24739&category_id=16843&passCloseTXT=&gadgetStyleBOO=&designCustomNUM=NULL&designCustomWidthNUM=0&designCustomHeightNUM=0&designCustomSecondNUM=0&iframeNameTXT=IFwinEdit_16843&borderSizeNUMg=&borderColorTXTg=&backColorTXTg=&textColorTXTg=&gadgetStyleXmlBOO=&iPageNum=6&seaWord= - I am pissed!
