I have been collecting vintage Heuer chronographs for some years now, and have just added my first Breitling to my collection.

I picked up a ref. 2010 Sprint very cheap on Ebay UK at a Buy It Now sale. According to seller, the bezel was stuck. When it arrived I found out that the bezel was glued to the case. I managed to remove it after some worrk, and peeled off all the remaining glue on bezel and case. The tension spring that locked the bezel on place was missing. I tried one from a spare Heuer bezel, and it was a perfeckt fit. The bezel snaped in place, rotating just fine.

This is an early version of the ref. 2010. The production number, 1169293, is inside the case and dates the watch to 1967. The ref. number 2010 is stamped on the back. The hands is of Navitimer type and the lume agening is matching the lume on the dial. They seems to be original to me. Later ref. 2010 that I have seen has the Breitling logo and production number on the back, and square hands. They have been dated to 1969.

I put it on a tropic strap and added a vintage Breitling buckle.

It a perfect match for my Heuer Autavia ref. 7763. They are both powered by Valjoux 7730.

Thanks! It's only the looking spring that's from a Heuer. The bezel is all Breitling :P

Oh, and there was me thinking that I had never realised that Heuer used bezels that looked identical to Breitling

Roff - save that great pic of the signed chrono bridge for future reference. Would apply to Venus 188 and Valjoux 7730 movements. That one is as good as it gets and the WOG is on the balance bridge also. Craig
