I do not want to open the case due to the fact that it returned after a major overhaul (1800$ approx) last year. Hopefully you guys can help me anyways :)

Thanx in advance.

Sorry to hear about your father malfre01.

The watch does indeed look like an early 70s Navitimer, although I can't read the serial number if it's still there - likely above the 7806 which would date it accurately.

There's nothing wrong with what I can see, and the condition looks very good - the work done was obviously completed by someone who knows their stuff.

The movement in it should be a Valjoux 7740.

Thanks for the kind words, it is hard but that's the way life goes...

Thanks for the info Roffensian, can the serialnumber be anywhere else on the watch? The engravings are relatively clear so a serialnumber is likely be seen, right? :)

The overhaul was made at Breitling in Switzerland. I also inherited an Emergency Mission (which is on its way back from service now) and 2 Longines Hour Angle Watches...the old man was a collector ;)

The serial number may have worn off, they weren't engraved as deeply as the model numbers, but it may also possibly be on the inside of the caseback.

I found the serial number, one digit is very hard to see (the others just hard ;) )

1408430
or
1405430

Most likely it is the first of the two.

Thanks once again for all your help :)

First one is early 73, second is late 72.

Thanks again...if I find anything else of wondering, I'll make another post ;)

Edit:

One more question...what is the value (roughly) for watches like this. It is good to know for insurance purposes.

The prices of these have been suffering a little bit with the economy, so a sale now is likely in the $2,500 or so range - maybe slightly more.

However, for insurance purposes I would definitely put a value of $3,500 - $4,000 on it.

I have a similar Navitimer that was left to me by my father. It looks similar except for the red second hands.
