Hi all,
I got pointed here via TZ-UK when I posted a picture of my new superOcean.

I'm not a Breitling collector (I had a Cadette in the past, but I'm mainly a collector of vintage divers), but when I came across this watch, I couldn't resist.
Even though there's a recent re-issue of these, there seems very little info about them on the www. Can anyone give me some more info on these?

I had the watch opened by my watchmaker and the movement in it is very beautifully decorated (he thinks ETA-base, late 50's) marked Breitling transocean.

Hope you guys can tell me more about this watch!

Likely a Venus 175 movement and could be as early as the mid 50s. Are there any numbers on the caseback - might help with the specific model / serial number. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't as they were often on the inside of the caseback.

I'll hit the books this evening and try and pull more.

No numbers on the outside of the caseback. I have no tools, but I'll ask my watchmaker to open it again later this week.

My first post was dumb. Not a 175 as that would make it a chrono

The 175s are in the chrono versions - can't remember what was in the non chrono versions. I will check when I get home.

I was kinda thinking that cal you mentioned was chrono too, but I have very little knowledge on Venus movements. Did they (Venus) make non chrono movements too?

I think my Cadette had either a Venus or Landeron in it. I do have a picture of that one:

Looks like a Venus 188 - two register chrono at 3 and 9 right? Landeron movements were never used in Breitlings - despite the attempts of the fakers to convince us otherwise.

Venus did make some non chrono movements, but weren't as common in Breitlings.

OK, this one's got me scratching my head a bit.

Is this an automatic movement? If so then it's likely an 807/A - the caseback has the two stylized planes and is marked 20 ATM 600 feet.

That's the Breitling 125 movement, and I have never been able to figure out what it's based on - it's a bit too late to be an in house movement (I think).

Yep, it's an automatic, keeping accurate time too!

The caseback does indeed have those two tailfins (or planes or whatever they are) on the back -very 'atomic', cool. Hard to take a picture of it but I'll try tomorrow in daylight.

OK so it's definitely an 807/A with the Breitling 125 movement. What the basis of that movement is is completely beyond me.

A caseback opening tool is on it's way from the bay, so a movement shot will follow soon (hopefully).

Perfect caseback for an 807/A - couldn't be better, and the condition looks pretty good too!
