Post subject:  Where to find parts for 1966 Chronomat 808 (Bezels)

I own an 808 Chronomat from 1966.

Unfortunately I was wearing it on a dock, (2nd time I wore it after purchasing), where it caught on a line, pulling off the inner & outer bezel and the crystal, sending them to the murky depths.

I've been searching watch websites, and auction sites for an old one to be used for parts, but no luck. I searched the net for "watch Junkyards", and 'recycled parts' stores, but with no luck there either. Any ideas?

I would appreciate any and all advice.

It's going to be really tough to find a replacement. Even watches needing parts or repair will still cost a lot of money.

My suggestion is to keep an eye on ebay and see if anything turns up. Bezels and empty cases will sell for around $150-$400 based upon condition, finish, and rarity.

Good luck!

Paul - maybe you can help. Notice the bezel on the Chronomat in this photo, then click on the photo of mine in the thread 1967 Chronomat. The bezel on mine is the rice bead style and this gentleman's is the coin edge. The two are only one year apart. Is the bezel on mine accurate for '67 or is it an earlier model. I don't have the serial number to check for sure but the paperwork I have for it states 1967.

Joe, if you look at the Chronomat page on the Watchuseek page you'll see it appears that the coin edge is the one around 1967.

Yes, Paul - I have seen that site indeed but that's what confuses me. They don't illustrate a rice bead bezel version of this piece. Is there anything in the Benno Richter book about these 808 Chronomats and if there is, can you please post something? I recently ordered a used copy of the book from my local book seller but it will take a few weeks before I receive it.

Best,
Joe

There's nothing specific in the Richter about the 808 or Chronmat bezels in general.

I think I'll be looking for a while on ebay... I appreciate the advice... I don't think $400 is too much to pay to restore this great watch... Serves me right for being such a klutz. I've seen a couple other 808's for sale, but so far, no parts. I'll keep searching though.... Thanks for your response, and if anyone else has any sources, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks to all.

To much time requires to find out.... because the model is too old... But let me try it...
