Arne posted the brothers, so here are the "cousins"; Arne's Breitling and my Heuer, side-by-side from when they lived together in Atlanta -- two automatic GMT chronographs, circa 1970, both powered by the Cal 11 / Cal 14 series of movements.

The lings bezel and dial design with the added numbers etc are more appealing to me. Looks like Ling kicked butt back in the day and continues to do so :lingsrock:

Well, I suppose that this is a matter of personal preference.

I owned them both, and after deciding to keep only one, I opted for the Heuer. The second timezone (GMT) is much more legible on the Heuer (because it uses an outer bezel rather than an inner bezel); the size was better on my small wrist; and I prefer the red / blue color scheme, rather than the orange / tan.

There may be differences of opinion about who is "kicking butt", then or now . . . Maybe we can say that they are both nice chronographs, with different collectors having different preferences.

Two nice pieces of history - obviously Heuer, Breitling et al collaborated on the movement, but interesting to see how the designs of the different watches evolved.

Two really cool watches there, Jeff, and you know I am a sucker for GMTs!
It also really points out how many cool designs came out of the cal. 11/12/14/15 "Chronomatic" era.
Best regards & Happy New Year,
Tom

Nice pair, but can I ask, what's happened to the dial on the Heuer around the 10, 11 and 12 mark? Was it an attempt by someone at refinishing it, or was it an abandoned Photoshop job on the pic to make it darker?
