Couple pricey results for a gold 769 and a later gold 806. Do folks here give credence to these results? Or do we write them off as being inflated by "auction hype"?

Ref. 769 ca. 1945 in gold: 10,080 CHF
https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction ... wristwatch

Ref. 806 ca. 1965 in gold: 11,340 CHF
https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction ... hronograph

Edited to correct final prices.

They look to be in immaculate condition, and that attracts a premium. Sotheby’s attracts a premium too.

Right, really great condition for sure. Still, was surprised to see a 769 hit that number.

The 769 has been beautified. The hands look new and the crown is a different gold.

The first pic of the 769 makes the hands look like they’re not the normal blue, but the other pics looked a bit more normal to me. Really hard to grasp the color of the lume though with the editing/filtering of the pics.

True. Might just be lighting.

yes, that first pic is massively distorted, on the other pictures the hands look perfectly correct.
