Came across this on the web. Is this one of those less common AOPA wing black & white navitimer with beaded bezel? When were these produced? Or one with different parts put together? Thanks. |

1963, a Mk3 Transitional (if the serial number confirms this production year) |

Thanks. Is this type considered “special”? Or is it just another 806 with a bit of a different look? |

Someone might pay more that the equivalent with a non-beaded bezel. I wouldn't say it attracts a specific premium. generally the differences in Navitimers don't drive big differences like it does in say the Rolex world (thank God) . In my opinion, beside the obvious of condition, correctness, case material etc, in general: - all black dials are more valuable than the black and white - Valjoux 72 valued much more than Venus 178, valued more than Valjoux 7736 - maybe AOPA on the dial worth more than not, but nothing major -maybe smaller subdials (1964-68) valued more than bigger subdials (1969 onwards), but nothing major The major driver in value is condition,. |

Thank you! That’s super informative! Very interesting to learn about the Navitimer and all the differences. In terms of condition, are darkened lume (like the ones in the above photo) considered bad condition in the Navitimer world? |

Not "bad", as its quite common. Creamy white is very much preferred. Lots of people do avoid black. |

Yes, the black lume ones seem very common and most sales listing I see are for black ones. Perhaps just need to wait for the right one to come along. |

„generally the differences in Navitimers don't drive big differences“ compared to absurdities like ROC or RCO Daytona: true but a stellar condition Mk1 R72 will still be around 5x a stellar R7736 ... |
