Hello All- Would very much appreciate some help with this 38mm, 1940's/50's Cadette. I have read Breitling did not use a double case back but I cant tell if what Im reading is correct for all Breitlings?!

The watch is said to have a Venus 188 movement, original dial, plexiglass cover and (lightly polished) 18k case and was recently serviced.

The strap and buckle are not original (would love to find an original buckle!!).

I have more photos I can attach to another post.

I am new here and greatly appreciate your assistance, thank you!

there was one model that DID use a double caseback (ref. 1185, proven by recent research), this isn’t one of them.
fake.

Thank you! I see many Cadettes for sale with the double case back. Are they all incorrect?

Does the double caseback deem them fake or is there a reason a double might have been added?

Trying to learn as much as I can!

Much apprecaited!

Breitling have 4-digit model references and (during this period) 6-digit serials.
we now have verified examples of a ref. 1185 that used Erard double caseback cases and serials that can be verified in the production ledgers.

won’t publish serials of these so we won’t give fakers clues to correct values

If I am able to get the serial number, how can I cross reference?

This Cadette also appears to have a double caseback.

here is the list of serials: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=31437

the cal. 188 was introduced in 1948, production ended in 1967, so this gives you the range for verification.
