Post subject:  Difference between buckles

Hi everyone,

I was looking to buy a Breitling buckle and came across these two.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232954208993
https://www.ebay.com/itm/254852171519
Any idea what the differences are besides the price? One is from Singapore and one is from the United States if that matters.

Thank you

well, the first one must be a reproduction because he's sold 36 of them. That seller is pretty well known for mass buckle selling!

I didn’t see that on the app on my phone, my bad! So they’re both reproductions :/
Any idea where I can find a genuine gold/stainless buckle for a Top Time?

That buckle style is from the 80s and 90s. Top times are 60s 70s. So no point in trying to match. There is no period correct buckle for a top time.

Breitling has never done a gold plated buckle. They're either 18k or stainless. Aftermarket plated stainless buckles have longevity issues.

Thank you for information. I guess it’ll be better just to keep the buckles that come with my straps. Even though they aren’t breitling and one of them doesn’t match my gold case. Don’t want to buy buckles that fall apart and don’t last.
