Hello All,

I am new to the site and would appreciate some information and guidance on the Breitling 817 CP1 which was, I understand, made exclusively for the Italian military c1975. I have managed to track one down and agreed to purchase it, at what I believe is a good price. It is without a box or papers and is not on the original Maruman elasticated metal strap.

Does anyone know where I can find out more about these watches and where an original, or a replacement pattern, strap might be found?

Many thanks.
Erik

There’s loads of info if you just google.

Try google Breitling 817 h o d I n k e e without the spaces. ( why is this site no longer slowing pasted links?)

I’ve never seen the bracelet for sale. I’ve seen quite similar with a frosted edge in Germany, but never the fully correct one.

Yes, the Hondinkledonkle article is a good start. One of the lovely and unique features of the 817 is the lume on the hands that turns orange, so make sure the one you are looking at has that. Without it, I just don’t think it’s the same.

This was one of the nicest I ever saw when it was listed for sale on Chrono24 last year. Full set too, but certainly not cheap.

Thank you, that is a fine example in the photo. The lume on my purchase has faded as per your photo and looks all original. Do you know what these are actually achieving in the market, as opposed to what is being asked?

My example doesn't have an E.I number on the back case but I understand that some were never issued, or were so-called unassigned. However, the serial number is consistent with the others I have seen.

Thanks.
Erik

I think no E.I number will hurt the price.

I think issued ones are circa €8-9K private trade, but Im not up on the most recent prices. The ones H o d i n k e e mentioned added supply to the market and if you ant one you can get one from the Italian guy that bought them.

Thanks Buddman. That's helpful. I am paying less than this.
