Post subject:  Breitling 9121 Originality

Hi all,

I found this Breitling 9121 for sale and I think it’s a great find. I’m thinking about buying it as a gift for my father but would love a second opinion.

The dial looks great but has 2 small patina spots. I don’t think it’s a major problem (hopefully).
There is a sizable ding in the top right lug. I’m confused why it looks gold/bronze underneath the dent. The watch looks crisp and unpolished which is good news.
Im confused about the crown and pushers. They look bronze/gold in the faded areas. Any reason why this is the case? Shouldn’t worn down areas be silver or blackish?

It’s quite tough to find information regarding this watch to determine its originality. At first I thought it was a fake because it lacked the cursive Breitling I typically see. But after looking and finding the model, I realized it’s genuine and has a nice glossy dial! Was this watch produced in a limited run? Seems quite rare. The seller wants about $2500 for the watch. No idea if I’m allowed to ask about value here.

Any thoughts or links would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Also any opinions on this watch vs the Breitling 2002 reverse panda? I see more of those for sale.

Hi -Personal opinion but the 9121 is not one of Breitlings best. The quote you've been given is way too high. I think the 9121 is a chrome plated case and looks cheap.
It is nowhere near the TopTime 2002 reverse panda (Thunderball) in terms of quality or desirability.

You’re right. Thanks for the advice. After looking further into the watch I learned it was chrome plated from someone who has previously owned one. That really turned me away from the watch.
