Complete newbie to all things Breitling. So please pardon my complete ignorance but I am very interested in purchasing a vintage 809 or 806. They just have such presence that my Rolex and omega lack. I saw this for sale and just loved the look but no idea how to age it and the hands looked a bit odd. They appear original but just not to this watch. Any help and resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Maybe with serial number in caseback you could determine the year

The hands just look like they have faded badly. Overall the watch has not cosmetically survived that well - 7.5/10. Sliderule looks good though and that's the part that normally suffers the most.

Year of case manufacture is by serial number. Lots of websites have the list, such as this one

Thanks gents. That was exactly what I was after. One more question if I may. The back of the case does not have a serial number. I have seen that on a few other examples. Does that mean it is a service replacement or are there years that did not have it. Many thanks.
