no, a batch of 200 Navitimer 806 was manufactured in 1990. not a seller claim, but a production ledger entry; yes, it is odd, but a fact.

as said above, 200

Is there any source available for the production ledger entry (e.g. screenshot)?
So the final serial number for Navitimer 806 models should be 1448673.

Found out there are more "non existing" 806'es:

Great site btw!

Hi @Venus. I am the OP of this thread, and out of curiosity I ended up buying the watch I posted about. Following @WatchFred's input, I reached out to Breitling to see if I could get an image of the ledger. The following is the initial exchange with the Breitling historian via the Breitling Boutique in Sydney, which might be of interest to you.

In reply to a subsequent exchange, the historian went on to say:

I therefore assumed that these were service cases made for watchmakers so they could repair severely damaged watches, and further assumed that my watch was put together by an enterprising watchmaker from parts (similar to a WatchCo Seamaster 300s), probably in Japan since this is where I procured my watch from.

There are further comments from @WatchFred here on Instagram, and you can come to your own conclusions. As I said at the end of my post there, "...its in extraordinary condition, so I like to think of it as my own private little re-edition." I hope you enjoy your watch for what it is (or whatever it turns out to be), as I do mine.

there is no indication whatsoever there could be a “typo” in the ledger for these - the current database has now been verified, completed and corrected according to the hand written ledgers, this batch has been confirmed.

@arcadelt & WatchFred: Thanks a lot for your great information!

All 806 E models seem to have the smaller crown, even earlier batches with Valjeux 7736 movements.
See the pictures here in this thread, here or here.

Here is a pic of my "lost serial"-806 E, all same like arcadelt's one except "T SWISS MADE T" on my 806 E dial:

and it's Venus 178 movement:
