Post subject:  Help with 50s and early 60s tang buckle

Hello all
I am new to the forum, have been a Omega 321 and Valjoux 72 collector(predominantly Heuers) for many years and - after many years of searching - now have fallen for a 806 all black, first sold in June 1962.
The watch came on a modern strap with modern dimensions (22|20) and the original buckle was not saved when the original owner switched to a flex bracelet decades ago. I have not been able to determine what size bracelet would be original to the watch - 22/18 or 22/16.
Also I’d appreciate help on the original tang buckles used before the twin-jet design. Perhaps someone could post a photo of one.
Many thanks from a Breitling newcomer
Cheers from Switzerland in Old Europe
Richard

Hi Richard. Original strap was probably 22/16, and there is some debate as to whether the twin jet buckle ever existed, or it’s a later day creation. They’re sold en masse by an eBay seller in the US, so you have to figure they’re from China. Navitimer was also sold on “fix-o-flex” bracelets and mesh bracelets as well, so the flex you had on yours could have been original perhaps.

This photo from http://www.kurt-b.com indicates this is an original strap
