How long should a vintage watch go between servicing? If I purchase one should I get it serviced right away?

Is there anyone that you guys can recommend in Westchester NY or the NYC and surrounding area?

Thanks!!!

It really depends how often you wear it. I think the old adage was every 5 years. If the watch is something it’s not impossible to get parts for, personally I’d just wear it until it starts acting up. Others I’m sure would be more proactive. People talk about the oils in the mechanism drying over time, but I’m personally unclear how an oil based product dries up, but hey.
