You might remember that sometime back I had asked about a eBay 806 which I then bought. Hi I've got a 1970 something 806 and am looking to get it properly serviced and repaired. I've posted some photo's under Introductions and "Great Site, Brilliant Info" if you're interested? Please could I have your opinion and some details / prices for your repairers? Last time I got mine serviced (some time ago) it was through a local (Norfolk) AD but non Breitling parts were used due to price and availability, hence the "crazed" glass and non Ling strap. 'd like to get a better job done this time. Best wishes |

Best wishes The only way to get close to original parts (they likely won't be OEM as they are very hard to find) is to go through Breitling or a Breitling authorised restorer. Not sure about the UK, but in North America Breitling don't do the work themselves on vintage pieces any more. Instead Mark Heist at Horological Services in Philadelphia is the only factory authorised indidvidual. Speak to an AD and they should be able to get you contact details for someone to do thee work. All that said, independents can do some very good work - chronodeco on here is an independent watchmaker and having seen pictures of his work it is very good indeed (though he too is in the US). |

i got told by BUK most parts are now being fabricated in switzerland so although genuine not vintage |

...back to the subject of the strap. I agree with Sharkmouth that the old strap looks like it has history (in fact the original owner was in the British military all his life). I would have wanted to keep it but one of the side loops is broken. I am actually now not happy with the one I have fitted. Any opinions on what would look best? I would really want to have something that is appropriate for the age of the watch. I have researched a lot on the 'net but nothing has caught my eye that fits the vintage, in my opinion. Anyone in the EU have any experience with someone who can do leather stitching - I have Breitling double airplane buckle or could use the one from the old bracelet, or have the old bracelet repaired? |

It's not my style, but if you want to pay tribute to the military history of this particular piece then a Bund style strap is a different look. Alternatively, have a look at www.abp-paris.com - they have a lot of different leather options and offer custom everything. Click on the 'To order your watch band' box at the top of the home page and it takes you to the custom build tool. |
