Hello All, I am new to this forum and relatively new to the world of vintage watches. I'm looking at a 1967 806 for sale at a watch store in a nearby town and wanted to run it past a few watch boffins before deciding to take the plunge. The serial number on the watch is 1145088. I understand there are many Franken-Navitimers out there but this watch claims to be original and looks to be in very good condition from the pictures. I noticed orange markings at 10 and 36 on the outer dial and the middle dial 10 that aren't present on most watches I've looked at from this period. Are these correct for this serial 806? Any suggestions on what a fair price would be for this watch, assuming it is as mint as advertised? Thanks for all input! |

The Box 10 dial is correct for this year Navitimer, and the faded slide rule matches. The watch appears to be all original. Although, I wouldn't classify it as "mint", based on the darkened tritium. Not a bad example, based on current market and dial condition id say a fair price from a dealer would be $3k-3500 usd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks your the response. Sounds like they are likely asking too much for this watch at $6700 CAD (approx $5000 USD). I might be better off finding a similar 806 online. I definitely want to see it in person first though. I looked at the new Navitimers a couple years ago and they didn't appeal to me much. I found them too large and flashy and ended up buying a new moonwatch. |

For $5000 you should get a near perfect panda 806. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm trying not to sound completely naive/ignorant here but, to be honest, that's probably not far off from accurate. That said, could you explain what specifically would differentiate this example from a "near perfect" example? Besides the darkened tritium, the only other detractors I can identify is some very light corrosion along the outer dial. The case looks to be slightly worn but I assumed that is preferred over one which has been polished. Although I haven't yet scoured the entire internet, most examples I've seen posted for considerably less money have had much worse corrosion, replaced dials/hands/etc, or blotchy lume. |

When you get into that price range.... Assuming the rest is good, It's all about the dial and the lume. Brightly colored tritium indicates a well preserved watch and is more attractive in general. I'm sure many on this forum have examples they'd love to share which fit into that category. Now maybe youd prefer a darker lume example? OK, but to the market, it's still worth less than a bright lume example. In the end you can pay whatever you want for the watch you'd like to buy, I'm just giving you a feel for the market. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
