...of what I talked about earlier concerning vintage Breitling's and finding a match, or close match, in Benno Richter's book on Breitling's. Just bought this one tonight and it needs some work but the dial still has the original, vibrant, colors which is really pretty rare. The second pic is from Richter's book showing almost the same watch and dating to 1944. The serial number on my watch is also earlier than those in the book so I'm estimating maybe 1942-43 since the dial number font is slightly older style than the book representation. This watch has ref number 178 on the back which should mean a Venus 170 movement.

Wonderful piece, Paul! I've actually been looking for one like that! Once you restore it, will you consider selling? Here's my email address:

Hi Joe! Too early to tell at this point. It'll probably take me a couple of months to get it serviced and maybe the case replated. However I'll let you know if I do sell. Sold the older Aerospace this morning so have a little more cash to bail out some Breitling's in for service. :)

Later.

Just got the watch in today. Dial is as nice as I thought. Can't believe the colors are still bright after sixty odd years. Looks like it needs a mainspring and a crystal. Balance is free and the movement looks fairly clean. Temporarily stuck a vintage pigskin strap on it I just had laying around.
