I am a vintage Rolex guy that happened across this watch on ebay. I saw it and recalled a watch that i bid on that got away about 6 months ago. I vowed not to let that happen again. So this time, i made sure it did not. The case is great.....i cannot see evidence of much polish if at all (but i am not as versed with these cases as i am with a Rolex case. The minute hand seems to be a different shade of orange and seems to be a touch long.....however, i am not sure if it is original. My questions are as follows:

1)where the hell have you guys been hiding these cool designs for the past 2 years (when i have been collecting)?
2)how does she look overall?
3)the serial 1333xxx is from 1969?
4)i got the attached box and strap with the watch....i am assuming neither is original to the watch?
5)where can i get an original breitling buckle for the watch?
6)any issues that come up?
7)are the hands oem? is the second hand a little off?
not too polished, right?
8 is the bezel insert original and where can i get an all black one?
9)what is the power reserve for this watch.....mine seems to stop about 5 hours after i stop wearing it.
10)any imperfections shown on the dial are due to the crystal. I took a loop to the dial and was very happy.
11)are the lugs really 19mm.....where do you find straps or natos?

The dial seems original to the watch based on this page from the 1969 Breitling brochure. If Breitling was anything like Rolex back then....then anything is possible. However, i see what you mean since this dial is in the 2031 and not the 2110......ahhh.....well i do prefer the surfboard dial so i guess since it is possible i am good.

welcome to the forum !
so many questions ....
will answer more when we have some pics.
generally nice, although the dial most probably did not start life in this watch, surfboard chrono-matic were used in ref. 2111s only, although we have a documented case where a customer ordered and received a "special assembly" in a 2110.

makes little sense to claim a Chrono-Matic dial is correct on a ref. 2110 because a similar dial was used on a Datora ref. 2031 ????

here is the relevant catalog page:

as explained above, I have seen ONE such watch with a surfboard dial and a dealer's invoice for this "special assembly", so it can't be ruled out.

may I suggest to continue that discussion in the public thread, pm is a bit tedious and I fail to see the advantage ?

My apologies....i am still learning my way around this site which can be quirky at first. Rest assured, no more pm's will come your way.

I am saying there is a difference between probable and possible. Is it possisble, yes. Is it probable, no. I am comfortable with that. I like the dial. I think i can get a 2110 dial so i am not going to lose sleep over it. I prefer the style that is in there now so i am good. What i was suggesting is that since Breitling made the dial in the same year and it fits the case and movement.....then it is not as if someone took a dial from 1975 and fit it in a 1969 case. The person i purchased this from bought the watch in 1995 in Basel, Swiss. At the time, the watch was probably 300 bucks.....or less. If the dial switch happened it occurred before he got the watch so it either happened in a watchmakers store or the factory. I am ok with that.

Any other thoughts about the watch?
