I came across this gorgeous 806 at a local watch shop. They only sell high end watches but I thought I would just confirm that it is authentic. It comes with the original box and papers and they tell me it was never worn. It certainly looks the part and is mint. The price is very high at $5,600 but if it is unused is it worth it? Any thoughts?

I have a late 90's model old navitimer (Breitling 13 movement) which I wear daily and just love it. However, is there anything negative I should know about the 806 movement before purchase? Any idea of the service cost and if they are more expensive to service and look after compared with my old navitimer?

Authentic and very nice. If truly unworn they can name their price. And, they're Not more expensive to service than other chronos.

Do you have a pic of the buckle and strap? Not sure this is the strap I would expect on a NOS Navitimer. A pic of the box and papers as well please?

better pics would help, but I doubt that watch was never worn; the dial lume looks quite damaged, no way this happened w/ a watch that was lying in a safe.
the price would be reasonable for a truly pristine piece, but this is far from unworn as far as I can see, hands lume looks questionable too.

From the bad pics and my bad eyes I can see lume issues. Most of these high end stores deal with many customers with more money than education on what to look for or what they are looking at many times. Have seen this many times. But, when someone knowledgeable questions a piece, prices usually drop!
Even at the current price, I feel confident it can be had for less. Have seen very few dealers, especially pre owned watch dealers, who won't negotiate.

Many thanks guys. I have asked for better pics including box/papers. And yes, there's always room for negotiation. :)

Some more pics. Appologies for the quality but have asked the shop again to please take some clear closeup pics without glare. :(
The strap looks like croco/lizard leather, is that correct for the period?

blackened lume as we thought; so far from "unworn" or stored very badly ?
"boxed 10" dial w/ correct sliderule; should be a 1967.
strap is modern.

They made boxed 10 in 1968 as well, and it can obviously easily have been sold in 1971.

Not saying neither nor, pictures are simply too bad, but this one was unused when I bought it.

If the strap is Breitling, and Croc - then it's a $ 600,- strap.

Received a better pic of the case with the serial number. Seems like a 1968 as per serial number?
No service record so no idea when/if it was serviced. So that would be an extra $500 or so I would need to factor in for a service.

I don't want to pay a premium so what's your best guest on estimated value?

We can't give you a serious estimate on a watch like that, without having seen much better pictures of the entire watch.

If it really is NOS (never worn), then it could close to double the value of a "normal" used vintage Navitimer.

Sure Kurt, I understand. I don't think the shop is going to take better pics, so I will have to go in and do it myself. Only problem is I am about 100 miles away and want to buy the watch when I'm there. Let's assume it has been worn (as I take everything a dealer tells me with a pinch of salt), I was thinking of offering them $4,000 cash. Is this too much for a worn watch with the original box and papers? It will mean with a service I am in for around $4,500.

I spoke with the Breitling Service centre and they confirmed they can service it, but noted that parts availability is a big problem and should it be required in future the watch will have to be sent to Breitling Switzerland.

The dial looks clean, more or less all the Tritium is present (though it's a bit dark), and the case seems to be unpolished, so yes, 4-4.5 sounds like a fair price.

There are likely to be better, cheaper and faster options open to you than sending to Breitling for service if you do buy it.
