Hello everyone. I'm new to the Breitling world. I recently stumbled upon this great forum. I have purchased an 806 (I hope). I think it's circa. 1965. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions please? -how do I confirm its age? -dubious if the rear case is genuine. Thoughts? -between the lugs there is a stamp (at 6). I'm assuming this is for the gold plating component? All I can read is a name, G and a fraction that appears to be 70/? Curiosity is killing me. Does anyone happen to know what the code should be? How do I determine if it's plate or filled? There's no evidence of wearing on the edges. The rotating bezel has no resistance - is this possible to fix? Cheers |

For dating your Breitling you can help yourselves with the SN per year table on this forum viewtopic.php?f=11&t=31437. That SN would be in the range 1002735 to 1060398 for a '65 Navi . This SN would be engraved inside the caseback . Between horn the stamp would be would be "plaquƩ 20microns" . |

Okay great. Would that mean that it's filled gold rather than plated? |

Navis were gold plated , not goldfilled . |

Oh okay. I was under the impression there was stainless, plated and gold filled or something to that effect. Good to know. Cheers |

Ah yes - thought as much. Does anyone know if the rear case is real? Thanks for all the replies. |

Sorry - lots of questions. The bezel turns very freely. Borderline loose. Does anyone know if this Navi had a click or was it simply a friction affair? How easy is this to repair? I was thinking of doing it myself. |

Serial number 354180. I was a little surprised - I thought it was slightly earlier - more '65/'67. I also not it has on the movement: -WOG -seventeen 17 jewels -Breitling watch LTD And another notation that I cannot decipher. I removed the bezel today. I'm curious as to the function of this notch in the brass outer ring that rotates with the bezel. Is there a missing spring? |

SN 1 354180 I guess corresponding to 1970. Your rotating scale appears as been replaced by an earlier version : considering your dial with the 10 in a box , the appairing rotating scale would have a red box around the 10 . And anyway this dial with small subdials is too early for a '70 . Maybe a replacement caseback on an earlier watch ? Concerning the loose bezel I had the same problem on my '67 Navi ... Problem solved by my watchmaker ... nothing impossible for him in this field , really a clever guy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

No part missing as far as I can see but a part to replace . You need to find a clever guy able to manufacture this kind of big washer from a piece of brass, using the weak part as a master and slightly correcting the internal diameter and thickness in order to compensate the gap that occured due to use . Just as shown in my pics. |
