G'day All.

I am a new Breitling Source user.
I have a Vintage Navitimer 806 and would like to know more about it... including any views on rarity and value.
If you have any knowledge of this 806 I would be glad to receive it.

I found a Navitimer article by Kurt Broendum at kurt-b.com which makes reference to this watch as follows: Extremely rare 1963 AOPA Navitimer with Beads of Rice Bezel, white subdials & 18 K applied AOPA logo.

What can I know about it:
I acquired the watch from its original and 1st owner approximately 25years ago. We were both commercial pilots. I wore the watch daily during my years as a pilot.

I received the original documentation with the watch and still have it. The original purchase date is 1965.
The watch has been serviced twice by Breitling. The first time when I bought it. At that time I replaced the non Breitling strap with a new Breitling Black Leather strap. When I stopped flying I had the watch serviced again by Breitling and replaced the strap again due to wear and tear through daily use. The watch hasn't been worn since. The photos were taken recently so as you can see... excellent condition.

I would be very interested to know your opinions of my watch and if it is in fact a rare version of the AOPA 806. I wonder how many were actually made. If it is rare, would you be able to tell me where best to obtain a valuation for insurance purposes. The watch and papers are not currently specifically insured.

Thanks.

What a beautiful watch. This transitional 806 is rare indeed, and valuable from a collectability standpoint. Unfortunately it appears Breitling replaced the hands during the last service, but that doesn't hurt the value too much. There are several companies that do insurance appraisals online that are good and inexpensive...Elite Timepieces for example. Enjoy that beauty...

Thanks for your response, the info and compliments about my Navitimer.
I have always thought this was a great looking watch. It is a real bonus to now find out that it is a rare Breitling also.
Best regards...
