Hello fellow Breitlingers,

I've been wearing a 70s Moonwatch I found at a local watch shop in New Mexico for a couple years and after reading this site for months and months, I finally decided to pounce on a 50s Navitimer last year.

My moonwatch isn't a beater, but it isn't pristine either. So, I never worried about scratching the dial or adding another scratch to the case. The problem is that the Navitimer case is about as perfect as you can get, so I don't wear it nearly as much as the Moonwatch because I'm worried scratching the case. (Ex. I had a new crystal put on the Moonwatch and even before I got home I had rubbed against something and put the first scratch on it. Me and plexi aren't made for each other).

Anyhow, do you just wear your nice watches to special occasions or do you forget about it because watches are made to be worn?

Steve

Cruel and unusual punishment could be defined by "starting a thread about a perfect early Navitimer and not sharing any photos" !!

haha. My apologies! It isn't perfect, but it is pretty nice for going on 60.

The case is nice but the watch as a whole is not a NOS example or a museum piece, so wear it carefully and enjoy ! Buy a tube of polywatch and clean the crystal when it gets nicked up and don't think twice about it.

I must admit that i don't wear mine very often as I took almost as pleasure in searchind and finding it as wearing it. ;)
I think it really depends on collecting philosophy you have.
For me, watches are nice objects I try to find in as nice condition as possible and I don't really want to scratch them more than they did in the past 50 years.

Spare a thought for the watch you are wearing than you already do and you will probably find it gets dinged less in use. If that makes any sense.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Enjoy your new watch and accept the wear and tear as you find it.
