Hello All,

I have recently delved into the wonderful world of breitling watches. Having only just started collecting my knowledge is still very limited. The starting point to my collection was a Montbrillant 1903 Special Edition (A35330), which has been an absolute joy to wear, and a great starting point (in my opinion) to my collection.

I have recently decided to go ahead and purchase my second Breitling watch. I decided that I wanted to go for something slightly older, so went ahead with what I believe to be a Breitling Navitimer 806, Circa 1967 with a Cal. 178. Having done some research online I have found various contradicting information on what this watch is which has lead to a lot of confusion on my side! I would be highly appreciative if anyone could shed some light on this situation!

Thank you in advance!

Chris.

definitely a Navitimer 806, case produced in 1967; subdial hands aren't totally correct.

Thanks for the reply! (I am a great lover of your Instagram page)

What would you say is wrong with the sub dial hands? Do you think they have been replaced?

Thanks!!

pic isn't too clear, so unsure abt. the hour counter, the other two are short versions from a "small eyes" dial

Sorry about the pictures!

I can see that clearly now.

Having read some threads on this forum and getting more and more interested in this, what do you think about the index markers? Do you think they have been re-lumed? At the 4:00 marker you can see a colour underneath that looks more similar to the hands? I might be totally off here, this is all still very new!!

the lume color is strange and uneven, but we've seen so many variations, I'd say it's one of those badlumeday pieces and not a relume, but woukd like to hear other opinions.

I would have to say relume, and quite some time ago.

I think relume

piece has broken off and you can see the old lume underneath ?

off the fence in the other direction for me ;)
the "broken" lines on the two are another indication for a relume; decent work though.

Looks like the hands have been replaced by a butcher who has ruined that sub dial, it makes me angry :whiner: to see this on such an important and historical watch, there is just no need for it.
