Post subject:  806 Dial - Straighten or not to Straighten?

Hi All,

After thoughts and advice on whether to try and get the minor damage to the dial on my '64 Navi straightened out. It's very minor and only noticeable in certain light conditions and from certain angles.

Any thoughts on whether it can be done and by whom? I have contacted Heists but of course they would not commit without seeing the watch....and carrying out a full service!

Anyone had similar work carried out?

Thanks

Thanks Fred. Yes, it is stunning.
Guess i am interested to know if it is possible or if it might cause more damage e.g. crack the lacquer, or the dial itself etc...
I would only consider it if I could be given confidence that it has been done successfully before.

I still can't even see what the damage is... I'd probably leave it alone!

But Craig is the magician

My watchmaker have straightened out dials much worse than yours, so my point of view is that it's a fairly easy job, you just need to find the right guy for the job, and I'm sure that Craig can do it.

Whether it will become completely unnoticeable or not, obviously depends on how bad it is, only a close inspection can tell that.

If I was you, I would have it done.

This one was seriously bent, more or less across the entire dial, before my watchmaker worked his magic.....

It's visible between 3 and 4 o'clock at the edge of the black dial. Look at the close up shot. Slight bend to the edge and a little 'wave' or ripple next to it.
