Hi guys. My first time posting. I have a question for Breitling experts: does an 18K version of Ref. 809 Cosmonaute exist? If so, can anyone show me a photo? Thanks in advance.

yes, you do, Rene - a 1970s piece was recently listed and we diacussed it, strange bezel, you thought the lug form was looking strange due to lens distortion, I remained surprised.

caseback marking looked correct.

Does that mean it doesn't exist? So is this a fake?

this is a different watch to the one I discussed with Rene - more pics, please; this seems to be be a much earlier pieces, most probably 1964-66, bezel looks correct in this view, lugs in line w/ my expectations for an 18k from that period.

here is the one we discussed, several strange issues w/ this one: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/BREITLING-COSMON ... 3cf71cf631

@OP: no reason to believe there were no 18k Cosmonautes, just that there have been no documented pieces until now; as it does not appear in a catalog (no mention too, as far as I remember) and the "New Breitling" has no relevant production records, we need correct pieces pictured and analysed, so, as requested above, please do post more pics, including a side view of the bezel and caseback.

need to correct myself re "caseback marking looked correct" on that ebay piece, caseback is marked "806", so for a Navitimer.

The watch looks correct to me but the back is stamped 806, which is a Ref. for regular navitimer. Should be 809. But perhaps Breitling put a Cosmonaute movement and dial into a gold 806 case. Isn't it possible?

First809:
do you know the serial number ?

I have an 18K gold 806 with the exact same case , just want to see how close together they are
and I believe consensus is that if it is a Csomonaute it always has 809 on the back . If it doesnt something is incorrect

The serial numbers are a few digits apart, so I assume it is original but was born a Navitimer not a Cosmonaute. So somebody swithced movement and dial I assume.

Stupid question - how late did cases with male springbar pins (for female springbars) go? I had mistakenly thought those ended long before this case was made....
