phantastic watch! These GMT's (also the 2115 automatic version) are rare birds and it is interesting to see this fact: at the time Breitling offered this watch, they also offered the 816 (the fried egg/big case with the Venus 178) in the late 60thies/early 70thies. The 812 is a rare bird, because they don't sold so much of them. The clients bought the "standard fried eggs" (816 and 1806) and for the reason that Breitling used a lot of Venus 178, they can't have enough movements, so that they decided to do this: They had the case and a movement (usually for the 812), so that they "create" the Ref 816-72, to sell there "standard fried egg 816" (but with Valjoux 72). That they used the for 812 prepared cases, you can see on the casebacks from 816-72, because there they "killed" the engraved 812 (but you an still recognisize it) and put the 72-4 in. Good for you Rene, that they had enough cases and movements, but don't used zhem for the 812, because the 812 was not a "best seller" and so now the 812 is really a rare bird (and a also rare bird, the 816-72 was "born" based on the 812 at least). Really good authentic condition - this 812! regards Stephan |

Most people are thinking, the inner scalering was always brown/golden, but that's not true. Here's one of my NOS-scalerings for the 2115/812 - very, very sensitive against sunlight ![]() ![]() Stephan: You're right! cal_11 |

the inner scale rings we find in different colours and perhabs, as cal_11 says, they had been very sensitive against sunlight and perhabs even before clients had seen them in catalog ![]() ![]() two pictures from different Breitling catologs near by what i saw in "real life" are a lot of different colours (only talking about the more dark side of skale ring): completly realy dark "chocolate brown" one and it's variations (perhabs from to much sunlight) "blue" one and it's variations (perhabs from to much sunlight) I talk about the automatic GMT Modell 2115 bezel variations, because we see them more often, than 812, but they should be the same. I don' know the real solution for this variations. regards Stephan |

of course also it is possible, that the right side catalog picture shows another colour for the reason that in these years they decided to show, what they liked rearding to there limited tecniquel possibilities or even don't realy think about. If we look for example at advertising for the 765 we often see, that all subdials have same size, so these pictures are no real reference. But, what i wrote about colours is, what i saw. Here is a example, where it seems, that a colour-changing is going on: ![]() This picture is 4 years old. watch is in banksafe since this time. Perhabs i have to look, how the colour is now, after this time, but it was dark there ![]() so next years i have to put the watch on the window ledge next 8 years to have a authentic 2115 ![]() Stephan |

Stephan: My opinion is, there was only one type of this scalering existing. Note the "strange" lume-colours in the first picture a. I think, it's depending on different analogfilm/ligh/pictures/printing/paper. On every 812/2115 I've seen, the blue colour is still visible more or less at the upper end. cal_11 |

but, if there was only one type, you think this is the "brown" one? Stephan |
