I picked this up a few months ago - primarily attracted by the rice bezel - and a bit of a prayer that the dial could be cleaned up. Alas, there was some permanent damage to the dial and sliderule. Not the best purchase of my life.

Hopefully some day I might come across replacement dial and sliderule. Dialfactory has a sliderule on the bay but it has a funny mottled green colour to it which is odd. Would appreciate any leads if anyone has any!

I would say that an interesting learning for me is high magnification photos make any imperfections look truly awful! The watch looks good in my wrist but I would never have entertained the idea of purchasing this watch in its current state from high mag photos. I might be a bit more lenient in future on what acceptable condition is.

Other than changing the crown I think I would have left it alone. Patina is patina and part of the history of the watch. Always best to buy the best example you can afford rather than, hopefully, piece together an acceptable example. Hmmm, I should listen to my own advice more. :poke:

What I wanted to say but didn't have the heart.
