Post subject:  50 years old today

On 26th March 1965 I walked into Watches of Switzerland and came out with a new watch - :lingsrock: - It was on my wrist till 1974 and I had worn it to death - Wife bought me a Seiko automatic and my watch went in a drawer never to see light of day till 2009 when I signed up to this forum. :D

It is thanks to all the encouragement I received especially from Fred that I sent it off to Craig to be cleaned and repaired.

So now I have that same smile I had in 1965 when I first put on my new Breitling Chrono :) :)

Very nice, what reference model is it?

Wow, very cool! Looks flawless after 50 years. Was it bad before the restoration?

Thank you gentlemen for all the kind words - Thing is I feel just same as did at start of week - Fortunately my mind is still sound but body is showing slight signs of wear - Unlike my watch I don't think a restoration or service will help it.

Nateson.

To be honest it wasn't that bad - inside looked very clean - it was wear on case lugs caused by clothing and scratches which can't be polished out along with broken hammer and lose screw inside and of course bone dry - So Craig stripped it cleaned it oiled it - fitted new hammer and screw and also glass/crystal and new main spring.

I am not sure of reference model but Watchfred knows and if you search for my threads there are or should be pictures of before and after and I think a ref no..

If anyone is wondering why I have a bracelet on it's because my fingers struggle with straps - sometimes have to get wife to fasten shirt sleeve buttons for me.

Once again thanks to everyone on this forum - all have been most helpful.

it is an early 60s ref. 1191. before pics are gone, but case had massive wear iirc.
